In the plethora of teaching and learning activities, accreditation is the insurance that all the efforts put forth by a school community support the school’s mission and Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs). The John F. Kennedy School High School stakeholders are industrious in their efforts to ensure the accreditation process is manageable and monitored. The Coordinators have established an accreditation timeline that has been implemented to accommodate other events in the school calendar. In this accreditation process, the data collected from all the stakeholders drive all the action plans that the school develops, implements, and revises. The coordinators are tasked to draw together all the information stipulated by the WASC Criteria. Furthermore, with the direction from Leadership team based on the data analysis, the areas of growth are addressed and areas of strength are validated with evidence. Hence, with all that has been done thus far, the JFK community strives for the attainment of a six-year accreditation. The current Accreditation Coordinators for John F. Kennedy High School are Lorena Montague, a twenty-six (26) year veteran Language Arts teacher for JFKHS; and Vicky Sablan, a first-year teacher at JFK and a soon to be Doctor in Education, who came to the school with twelve (12) years experience in the Guam Department of Education. Both complement each other’s knowledge, abilities, and skills. Each has pleasantly accepted the position; more importantly, they are diligent in their efforts to attain accreditation. Working collaboratively on the process, they both are gaining greater insight on the mechanics of this educational community. Vicky has the adeptness to view and analyze the facts stated in previous reports, and Lorena has the knowledge of the workings of the school community that enables follow through with any actions deemed necessary for accreditation. |

Hafa Adai! I take this privilege to thank each and everyone of you for your professionalism, commitment, and devotion to providing quality educational programs for our 2100 JFKHS young Islanders as validated by our recent accreditation visit. I hope you enjoy each school day and receive a sense of accomplishment, stafisfaction, and the pleasure of contributing to the learning process that our students receive from you. The members of the JFKHS educational community are fortunate to have your talents in helping make our accreditation a huge success. To Lorena Montague, Vicky Sablan, Ken Murphy, Peter Linn, Denise Richards, Carmen Serrano, Paul Rabago, Steve Protasio, Rose Nanpei, Sharon Oliveros, James Santiago, Ruby Delacruz, Coletette Beausoliel and Roberta Abaday- I realize how much your limited free time was sacrificed by serving as our Accreditation Coordinators, focus group chairs, editors, data analysts and data annotators. To give so much of your personal time to the school demonstrates your commitment to the importance of education not only for JFKHS but also to the Guam Department of Education. To the Language Arts teachers, thank you for being the catalysts in the implementation of the Literacy Project across the content areas. Our students and school benefit for enriching our school program and self-sacrificing efforts in bringing us together for a common purpose. To the Department Chairs, thank you for your leadership. Your facilitative and collaborative leadership working alongside the JFKHS management team and with your respective teachers made JFKHS operations quite seamless in spite of our condition. Although we have some contrasting views on some critical issues, we always manage to come up with positive resolutions. To the support staff, I commend you on your stellar performance in cleaning our campus on numerous occasions in preparation for our accreditation visit. Your concern for making JFKHS a better place was obvious to all who worked with you. While you may view your role to be less than significant, you have exemplified your role as the backbone of our organization in keeping us afloat during the most difficult times. To the student organizations and other student volunteers, thank you for your outstanding school spirit and support during and throughout the accreditaion visit. I appreciate your volunteer work on the weekends to help spruce up the campus in prelude to the visit. Your work on those two weekends is a testament of your loyalty and pride to our school. I am proud to be your principal. To all, including parents, your personal efforts, unparalleled commitment, professional capabalities as educators and community members are deeply appreciated. Your kind help during this difficult time will be long remembered.
