- John F. Kennedy High School’s mission is to develop our island students to become globally primed high achievers.
- Our ESLRs: John F. Kennedy High School students will be responsible citizens, problem solvers, effective communicators, and technologically literate.
ATTENTION EVERYONE:
- *PTSA Meeting this Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6:30 P.M. in the cafeteria. All students, parents, and teachers are invited to attend.
- *No classes for students on Friday, Sept. 16 due to Professional Development Day for all Teachers. Notices for parents and students are forthcoming.
ATTENTION STUDENTS:
- Breakfast and Lunch tickets will be sold in front of the Business Office located downstairs in the A-Building before school and during the first half of lunch. Tickets will NOT be sold at the cafeteria. Ensure you have a ticket before entering the cafeteria.
- HomeBase/Homeroom takes place after 1st Block. On a Gold Day (periods 2, 4, & 6) ONLY the GCC students are moving to their HomeBase/Homeroom class. On a Green Day (periods 1, 3 & 5), ALL STUDENTS will move to their HomeBase. Please follow the bell schedule.
- *Attention Islanders: If you are interested in participating in boys or girls basketball this year, you must attend a basketball meeting this Thursday (9/8/2011) in room B102 during lunch. The meeting starts at 10:55. Please be prompt. See Ms. Basilio for additional info.
- *In celebration of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, WAY would like to encourage you Islanders to participate in this Spirit Week’s Activities. Accessorize with red, white, and blue this week. No hats, bandanas, shirts, or big earrings. Students must remain in FULL uniform, accessorize ONLY!
- *Join WAY at our annual 9/11 Wave, “A Decade to Remember,” on Friday, September 9 from 1:40 to 3:00pm in front of our campus. Please bring signs and flags. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!
- *Strength and Conditioning program is available for all JFK athletes. Space is limited, priority will be given to 2nd Quarter sports. You must have a current physical an parental consent. - Turn in your emergency cards to your Homebase teacher, if you do not have a homebase teacher please see the nurse and get an emergency card. Emergency cards are a requirement for you to be in school. If it is not turned in you will be sent home and it will be considered an unexcused absence.
- If you have any medical condition or any allergies please see the nurse during break or lunch.
- Can you play the piano or bass guitar proficiently? Can you sight-read music well? Vivace Honor Choir needs YOU! If you're interested in being a pianist/accompanist for your school's choir, please see Mrs. Sablan in Rm D101 ASAP for more information. You could earn 1 Honors Credit and fulfill a Fine Arts or Elective requirement.
- 1st floor of F-Building is now open before school and during lunch to alleviate crowding.
- SOPHOMORES: Hafa Adai! We still have room to sign you up for the Lodging Management Program (LMP). This is a three year program that will give you an opportunity to explore a variety of careers and gain the skills needed for employment in the hotel industry. We offer fieldtrips, technology, and internship opportunities. You will also develop your personal career portfolio to get you started in your future employment. SCHEDULES
- Students with schedules missing a class period(s) are to report to the Cafeteria during the period they do not have class. Students should attend all other classes scheduled.
- Schedule changes – Add/Drop takes place during the first two weeks of school. Students should not be sent to the Counseling Office during instructional time for schedule changes. Students must complete a Request to See Counselor for Schedule Change- Schedule Change Form and submit it to the Counseling Office before school, during break, or after school. The forms are with the teachers, in the main office, and in the Counseling Office.

TEACHERS:
- *Faculty Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 7th in the library from 1:40 - 2:40 P.M. Attendance is mandatory.
- *2nd No-Show Listing is due this Friday, Sept. 9th by the end of the day. Please give your form to Marcie or MQ in the main office.
- *HQT application forms are due Sept 9, 2011 and supporting documents on Sept 29, 2011. Pls. drop off you r applications to Mrs. Garvilles in Rm. 107 or place it in her box. Thank you!
- *Now is your chance to experience a bit of relaxation after a strenuous day of teaching. Tai Chi will begin on Friday after school from 1:40-2:40 on the second floor of B building by room 204. You don't need experience in the exercises, just comfortable clothes and shoes. We will meet and exercise together Wednesdays and Fridays, except for faculty meeting days. Come to B 2nd floor and try something new. All teachers and staff are welcome when you are able to attend. For more information see Roberta Abaday in B209.
- Homebase Teachers: Please pass out emergency cards to students and turn in to nursing office if you did not get a set of emergency cards please pick up a set at the Nursing Office.
- Homebase Teachers: Submit free/reduced breakfast/lunch applications to the FOAS Office located on the 1st floor of A-Building.
- THANK YOU TEACHERS for being patient with maintenance, custodial, equipment, textbook, and supply requests. We are working closely with IBC to address the maintenance issues that have been brought up by DPHSS, faculty, staff, and administrators. We continue to ask for your support in moving textbooks and equipment due to our lack of manpower. With your continued patience and cooperation, we will get this monumental task of moving back to Tumon done as quickly as possible! Continue to report or make requests through the FOAS Office located on the 1st floor of A- Building.
- *If you are interested in coaching the girls JV volleyball team, please see Mr. Antonio or Mrs. Hanszek by Tuesday, September 6.
- No Show Listing is due this Friday, Sept. 2nd. Please submit this form to Marcie Aguigui, Computer Operator, in the main office by the end of the day.
- September Faculty Meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7th, in the Library from 1:40 - 2:40 P.M. Please mark your calendar.

- Retrieve textbooks from the Gym from 8:00 A.M. – 10:15 A.M. Students cannot enter the Gym but they can retrieve books at the front door. Please see Mrs. Tessie Cruz if you have questions or require further assistance.
- To alleviate problems with retrieving textbooks from students during the add/drop period (the next two weeks), only class sets will be used for now.
- 1st floor of F Building is now open to students before school and during lunch to alleviate crowding.
- Please take the time to review the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Quick Reference that was placed in your packet.
