  • John F. Kennedy High School’s mission is to develop our island students to become globally primed high achievers.
  • Our ESLRs: John F. Kennedy High School students will be responsible citizens, problem solvers, effective communicators, and technologically literate.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

  • *JAPANESE CLUB: will be holding meetings every Wednesday in F202. Serious members who want to help fundraise and may partake in the Japan trip are invited to attend. Club participation will determine one’s eligibility to take part in the Japan trip. Please be prompt.
  • *Marine Defenders club meeting on Thursday, September 29 during lunch in D111.
  • KOREAN CLUB will be having its first meeting in D112 during lunch on Tuesday, October4. If you want to learn about the amazing culture of Korea; you are highly encouraged to attend.
  • Love TRIVIA? Want to have fun doing it? Join the Academic Challenge Bowl! Meetings are every Thursday during lunch in F102. See Mr. Portin for more details.
  • I-Recycle Club: Meetings every Wednesday at Lunch in Room D223.
  • Filipino Club (UFSA): Meetings every Thursday at Lunch in Room D223.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:

  • *We will have a BACK-TO-SCHOOL DANCE in the cafeteria immediately after the Homecoming game (approximately 6:00 - 10:00 p.m.) Tickets are the $2 pre-sold and $3 at the door. WAY Officers will be in Room B102 during lunch if you would like to purchase tickets. Clubs/organizations will be selling drinks and snacks will during the dance.
  • *Our Homecoming Football game is scheduled for this Saturday, October 1 at 3:00 p.m. at the JFK Ramsey Field against Simon Sanchez. Please come out and show your Islander spirit! See Jina Sugimoto if your club/organization would like to fundraise.
  • *ALL STUDENTS interested in participating in any sport MUST comply with the league requirements. See Mr. Jay Antonio, Athletic Director, for details.
  • *Absolutely NO facial piercings, sunglasses, or other prohibited items are allowed. All policies in the Student Handbook will be enforced. Ignorance is NOT an excuse!
  • *ALL STUDENTS: Pull over sweaters are not allowed. ONLY ZIPPER SWEATERS!
  • *NO STUDENT is allowed to loiter on campus after the dismissal bell without proper authorization.
  • *PARKING DECALS must be displayed when entering the campus.    
  • *SENIORS: October 19-21. You will have your first chance in ordering your graduation cap and gowns! It will be $65 for each package. Please go to B213 during lunch to place your orders.
  • SENIORS: Please schedule your senior portraits in B213 during lunch and after school. Schedules are done on a “first come, first serve” basis.
  • SENIORS: Find your voice, be a star, make new friends, and make a difference by attending the SENIOR meetings (class of 2012) every Tuesday during lunch in the Media Center (Library). REMEMBER…be informed and graduate!
  • SENIORS: If you are interested in helping your class or would like to share your “scary side,” attend the Haunted House meetings during lunch every Friday in B201. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
  • FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE PREGNANT: Please register at the Nurse’s Office during Break or Lunch.
  • National Forensic League. Participation in Speech and Oratorical competition is the strongest academic activity for scholarship and college admission success. See Mr von Rodeck.
  • Are you having trouble with your class assignments or lessons? The National Honor Society members are willing to assist you! We will be tutoring every Monday and Thursday during lunch in Room B210. After school tutoring will be as followed: Every Monday/Wednesday in the Library and Tuesday/Thursday in Room B210. See your Homebase teacher for a lunchtime tutoring pass.
  • Sophomores and Juniors: The PSAT will be administered on October 12. This test will help you prepare for the SAT, a college admissions test. To reserve your slot, please make payment of $14.00 with FOAS/Business Office and present your receipt to Mr. Pilarca or Ms. M. Santos in the Counseling Office.

FROM THE COUNSELORS:

  • *Class of 2012 (Castro – E): If you received a Graduation Status letter from Mr. Pilarca, please have your parents sign the form and submit it to the counseling office by Friday, October 7.
  • Students interested in an Engineering Degree. There is a Charlie Corn Scholarship available from the Society of Military Engineers.   Information is forthcoming.
  • UOG Upward Bound college preparation program is accepting new student applications. Please see Mr. Ballares or Mr. Pilarca at the Counseling Office. Deadline to apply is Friday, Sept. 30. Applicants must submit requested documents with their application.
  • Office will be open for lunch starting Monday, September 19.
  • SENIORS: ASVAB will be on October 6 and 7 in the Library. Please sign-up at the Counseling Office during lunch.
  • SENIORS: Start your college and university journey today! 1) Log on to www.collegelboard.com to sign up for the college SAT test today, 2) Get your college applications in early, and 3) Apply for your FAFSA PIN with your parents.
  • *ISLANDERS: University of Guam’s Upward Bound (UB) and Educational Talent Search (ETS) currently has open slots for interested students. These programs help students stay in school and go to college after you graduate. Please sign-up with Mr. Ballares in the the Counseling Office today!
  • Audio Essay Contest “Is There Pride Serving In Our Military?”   Voice of Democracy Scholarship. $30,000.   Grades 9-12. Deadline Nov 1.
