John F. Kennedy High School’s mission is to develop our island students to become globally primed high achievers.
Our ESLRs: John F. Kennedy High School students will be responsible citizens, problem solvers, effective communicators, and technologically literate.
ATTENTION EVERYONE
- Come and hear a variety of warm & heartfelt Holiday music sung by a group of passionate singers! Please support Vivace by joining them at their concert, "Sounds of the Season," on Saturday, Dec 10 at 7 p.m., & Sunday, Dec 11 at 3 p.m. at New Covenant Life Church, Tamuning. Pre-sold tickets will be $7 and $9 at the door. Tickets are available from any Vivace member. You may also purchase from the choir room, D101. Hope to see you there!

- Cork boards have been installed on the walls throughout the campus. All signs and information must be posted on these bulletin boards with staples. No taped posters on the walls will be allowed. The adhesive from the tape damages our walls so please help us keep our campus presentable.
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
- *JFK Dance Club: Meetings every Wednesday in D213.
- Calling all ARTISTS! The Creations Art Club will be having meetings every Thursday in D103. There will be a guest speaker coming in this month. More information will be announced soon!
- ATTENTION SENIORS: The last chance to order your cap and gown will be on December 5, 6, 7, 19, 20, and 21. Don’t wait until last minute. Cap and gown orders are $65 for more info, please go to B213.
- You like racks or enjoy a good game of pool? Come join the Billiards Club! Show your talent and skills or even try to become the very best. Meetings are on WEDNESDAYS in Rm B201.
- FUTURE EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION: Are you interested in becoming a teacher? Join the Future Educators Association NOW! Meetings are every Thursday in A202 during lunch. See you there!
- MARINE DEFENDERS: Meetings are Thursday at lunchtime.
- JAPANESE CLUB: will be holding meetings every Wednesday in F202. Serious members who want to help fundraise and may partake in the Japan trip are invited to attend. Club participation will determine one’s eligibility to take part in the Japan trip.
- I-Recycle Club: Meetings every Wednesday at Lunch in Room D223.
- Filipino Club (UFSA): Meetings every Thursday at Lunch in Room D223.
- Tourism Hospitality Society will be holding its regular meetings every Friday during lunch in Room G104.
- Robotics Club will be holding its regular meetings every Thursday during lunch in Room D114.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:
- *STUDENT SUPPORT OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- Absolutely NO gum chewing on campus
- No loitering on school campus after dismissal bell rings.
- Lockouts will be conducted soon; all students should be in their class on time!
- School starts at 7:00a.m.; Students must be on campus before classes begin
- No pull-over sweaters or long-sleeve shirts are allowed; follow the uniform policy!
- *Are you interested in running for Royal Court? W.A.Y. is hosting our annual Winter Formal which will be held on December 23. If you would like to run for King, Queen, Prince, Princess, Duke, or Duchess…you may pick up a contract in B102 anytime during break or lunch starting on December 1 until December 19.
- *ALL STUDENTS: The Sinangan-ta Youth Movement will be holding Poetry Slam Workshops every Tuesday starting today (11/29) after school from 2:00 – 3:30pm in D212.
- *JUNIORS: Interested in auditioning for Junior Production? Auditions are being held November 28 – December 2 during lunch and after school from 2:00 – 4:00pm in D106. Be prepared to dance or sing a song of your choosing. If you have any questions, please see Robert Patricio Jr. or Royette Nunez. We hope to see you there.
- *ALL ISLANDERS: The Senior Class is holding auditions for the Senior Production all this week after school in B213. Monologues are available from Ms. Estay in B213 or from Brandon Savella or Kojay Quichocho. The auditions are open to Underclassmen! Come and show your Islander talent!
- *Congratulations to the JFKHS CLOSE-UP STUDENT ORGANIZATION and their advisors, Joshlynn Velasco and Alice Orot. They received a perfect score on their portfolio. They were recognized for having the most community services and academic activities. Way to go CLOSE-UP!
- *Thank you to all the classes who participated in this year’s canned food drive! A special thanks to Mrs. Davis’ and Mrs. Aguigui’s English 12 classes for donating the most non-perishable goods.

- Yearbooks are now available for reserve for $35. You may place an order during lunch in D118 every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday OR see any yearbook staff. This is the most affordable yearbook on the island. Reserve your copy while supplies last!
- TENNIS: Interested in joining 3rd Quarter Sport of Tennis? Please pick up a physical and participation form from Mr. Pilarca in the Counseling Office. Official Practice starts December 12. NO PHYSICAL = NO PRACTICE!
TEACHERS:
- *Ann Manibusan’s father passed away this weekend. Nightly rosaries are being held at Santa Rita Church nightly at 6:30pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at the Family Residence in Santa Rita Hyundai. JFK will be serving solid food at the Rosary this Friday, December 2. We are kindly asking for monetary or food donations. Please see Mrs. Hanzsek.
- *JOB ANNOUNCEMENT for the following programs: 2011-2012 Eskuelen Puengi, 2011-2012 Summer School, and 2011-2012 Special Education Summer ESY. Certified Teachers (all areas), school counselors and school health counselors (subject areas will be determined by the Programs). Opening date: 11/15/11 and closing: continuous. - CAREER DAY is fast approaching! Just a friendly reminder that Jeofry and Jerico will be dropping by this week to collect any donations. Your donations will go toward the guest speakers’ luncheon and December 7. Your kindness will go a LONG way!
- The Yearbook Staff would like to present Merloj’s Prime Steak House food plate sales! They are $6 for 2 choice daily. There will be an order sheet in the Teacher’s Lounge. Please place orders before 9am every morning and food will be delivered during lunch around 11am. Please have payment ready upon delivery. FROM THE COUNSELORS:
- *JUNIORS AND SENIORS: There will be a College Admissions Workshop for student and parents hosted by College Access Challenge Grant (CACGP) on Wednesday, December 14 from 6-8p.m. at GCC’s Multipurpose Auditorium Building 400. This is a free event to help your learn about college admissions process. All CACGP participants are encouraged to attend.
- *Asian & Pacific Islander Scholarship. $$$ for College. Deadline Jan 13, 2012.
- Kentucky Fried Chicken Scholarship. $20,000. Financial need and entrepreneurial spirit. Will attend UOG. www.kfcscholars.org. Deadline Feb 8.

- JUNIORS AND SENIORS: The University Honors College (UHC) at Boston University is looking for a few exceptional students interested in Biomedical Engineering, Music Performance, English, Astronomy and Physics, and Human Physiology. For more information visit bu.edu/uhc.
- SENIORS: JFKHS just received S.A.T. Fee Waivers for SY 2011-2012. Having a Fee Waiver for the S.A.T. gives you an opportunity to take the test without a fee. Interested students who will be taking the S.A.T. in December/January and meeting the eligibility criteria for receiving a S.A.T. Waiver, please see Mr. J. Pilarca immediately in the counseling office.
- Gates Millennium Scholarship is available for outstanding minority group students with financial need. Please visit www.gmsp.org. The deadline is Jan 11, 2012.
