John F. Kennedy High School’s mission is to develop our island students to become globally primed high achievers.

Our ESLRs: John F. Kennedy High School students will be responsible citizens, problem solvers, effective communicators, and technologically literate.

ATTENTION EVERYONE

  • STUDENTS, TEACHERS, and STAFF: We are collecting new, old, and used eye glasses this month to help those who may need glasses. Please donate and drop off your glasses at the Nurse’s Office or at the ESL Coordinator’s Office in Room A125 located in the Counseling Office.
  • ESL Students and Teachers: The I’Ayudon Mane’lu (ESL Afterschool Program) will be starting on Tues, Feb14. Mandatory student and parent orientation will be held on Tues, Feb 14 @ 1:30p.m. in D219. Afterschool Program is held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Please drop all confirmation letters to the ESL Coordinator in Room A125 located in the Counseling Office.
  • The PTSA is selling Fortune Cookie Valentine Grams for $6.00. May be purchased in D106 during break, lunch, or after school. Remember, supplies are limited so purchase them before they run out!!!
  • The Xterra Guam Off-Road Triathlon will take place on Saturday, March 10th. If you’re interested in volunteering, see Mrs. Tydingco in F105. Thank you!
  • Effective immediately, if you are absent, you are to submit your excuse notes to the Student Support Services Office (SSSO) between 6:00-6:55 A.M., break, or lunch.  Students have a three-day grace period to provide excuse notes.  No admit slips issued with the revised homeroom procedures this semester.

  • Tourism Hospitality Society will be holding its regular meetings every Friday during lunch in Room G104.
  • Robotics Club will be holding its regular meetings every Thursday during lunch in Room D114.
  • WAVE CLUB: Welcome All Visitors Enthusiastically! Meetings will be held every Wednesday in room A207.
  • MICRONESIAN YOUTH CLUB meeting every Wednesday during lunch in room F104.

Mon, Feb. 13:  Show her a JFKHS library book (properly checked out and not overdue).

Tues, Feb. 14: Provide the titles of three books consisting of one word, four words, and three words to claim a prize. (EX: Entwined, Green Eggs and Ham, City of Glass)

Wed, Feb. 15: Compose an original haiku (3 lines of 5-7-5 syllables) on the themes of love, reading, books, or anti-bullying.

Thurs, Feb. 16: Interview 3 teachers, staff, or administrators to find out the titles of their favorite or first book. Bring answers & employee’s initials.

Fri, Feb. 17: Rewrite the lyrics to the first stanza of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” to match the themes of love, reading, books, or anti-bullying.

  • JOSTENS will be on campus for ring orders. A table will be set up near the Main Office during lunch Feb 29 and March 1. Don’t forget your $50 deposit.
  • Hey Islanders! Did you forget to get your special someone a gift for Valentine’s Day? Have NO fear! NHS can help! We’re selling a limited amount of glittered roses for $6. See Jina Sugimoto during lunch in B210.
  • Class of 2014 is selling “JFK Islander” wristbands for $5.00. Stop by D113 to purchase them!
  • LOVE MUSIC? LOVE SINGING? It’s that time again! Auditions for Vivace begin on February 22! Be a part of your school’s Honor Choir and earn a Fine Arts or Elective Credit. You must sign up in the Choir Room (D101) in advance to select and reserve an audition date. Come and schedule soon. Vivace awaits…
  • Seniors: Are interested in running for the Senior Prom, “The Last Serenade” Royal Court? Pick up a contract from Ruby Palmes, Angelyn Moises, or B213. Winning will not only be based on how much $ you collect, but votes as well.
  • Students who are parents of a child 3 years old and under, please report to the Nursing Office.
  • All student who are pregnant, please report to the Nursing Office to register and follow-up.
  • Are you having trouble with your assignments or lessons? The NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY members are willing to assist you! We will be tutoring every Mon/Thurs during lunch in B210. After school tutoring will be as followed: Every Mon/Wed in the Library and Tues/Thurs in B210. See your Homeroom teacher for a lunchtime tutoring pass.
  • The Guam International Reading Association's 2012 Read-A-Thon "I Love Reading: Read One - Love One" has begun! More than 500 of our students will be seeking your donations and support as they pledge to read at least 6 hours during Feb. 11-18.  Please give generously and encourage others to do the same as at least 20% of the money that is brought in goes right back to our school for books and supplies.  Contests will be held during Read-A-Thon Week; please ask your teacher for the day's trivia question or project.  Thanks, Mrs. Mallari (D219) and Mr. Pilarca.
  • Hafa Adai Freshmen!  FROM THE COUNSELORS:

  • HOW TO GET INTO GCC:

1-Personal information form: you must turn in your personal information form at the GCC admissions office and you will be given a student ID number, username and temporary pin number.

2-Health Clearance: you must clear from the student health center before you can register for any classes.

3-Advisement: you must seek advisement for classes that best fits your interest/program that you would like to pursue.

4-Registration: your will be registered at the admissions office once your registration form gets approved from the counseling department.

5-Student Support Service: your student ID will be processed at the student support service once you present your class payment receipt and your class schedule.

6-Book Store: you must provide student ID at the book store when you purchase your book.

  • SENIORS AND JUNIORS: The last two ASVAB tests for this year will be on March 22 and April 13. Please sign up with Mr. Ballares in the Counseling Office. Slots are limited so sign up today!!!
  • Attention Seniors!  If you are planning to attend college and you would like to serve in the military, then you can do both at UOG.  You can get a degree and become a U.S. Army officer after you graduate from college.  Captain Diaz from the UOG ROTC program would like to talk to you about the UOG ROTC scholarship opportunities during lunch on Tuesday February 28th in the Media Center.  See Mr. Ballares for details and to sign up today.
  • Association of Government Accountants:  Academic Scholarships for future Business Majors, and Community Service Scholarships for community service and accomplishments.  Must be AGA family member to apply.    Deadline March 30.
  • Seniors, Electronics & Automotive career path students!  UTI-theUniversalTechnical Institute will be holding a seminar at the Media Center on Thursday March 15 for seniors and technical career path students wanting to attend their prestigious school.  Deadline to sign up with Mr. Ballares in the counseling is Mon, March 12.
